Moving day checklist
Take some time off work the day before your move and get a good night’s sleep. Simple advice that helps set you up for the day ahead.
With pre-move planning complete, it’s time to make sure everything goes smoothly on what can be a busy day.
Ideally, young children should stay with friends or relatives during the move, or you could consider an on-site babysitter. Pets should be kept in a separate room.
We advise that personal transportation takes place of on a separate day to the initial pack to avoid taking on too much at once.
When activity starts, the EMS foreman will tour the house with you and discuss the overall plan for the move. With reliable information you can anticipate everything ahead.
Clearly marked boxes will help with delivery and placement in the correct room in your new accommodation. EMS recommends that you take photographs of your furniture to assist with insurance claims in the unlikely event of third party damage.
There will be a final house inspection that will include meter readings and checking that water, gas and electric supplies are switched off, if required.
Delivery day
EMS staff will do all they can to get you settled and comfortable in your new home.
Typically the delivery team will unpack cartons and position items in specific rooms, so they can be put away easily. Furniture will be placed in rooms identified on the delivery plan.
High value items will be removed from special packing and handled with care, or they may be stored separately so they arrive after the bulk of the move activity.
EMS can provide specialist assistance with items identified in the set-up survey that require construction or fitting.
Cleaning and handy man services can be arranged on the day or the days after your arrival when you have had a chance review all your requirements.
EMS will remove all packing materials on departure and wish you a happy stay.
